This Man Waited 10 Days in an Airport to Meet His Girlfriend Who Never Showed

According to CCTV, a man named Alexander Pieter Cirk, 41, flew from the Netherlands to China to meet his girlfriend of two months (only identified as Zhang) whom he'd met online. She wasn't there when he arrived, so he waited, and waited, and waited … until he was transported to a hospital for looking frail from waiting.

Zhang, 26, told the station — who "caught [her] off guard" with the news of Cirk's story — she thought Cirk was joking when he said he was flying more than 2,500 miles to come see her and that "he didn't contact me" after mentioning visit. She didn't even believe him when he sent pictures of the airplane tickets. She made plans to have plastic surgery done in another city, she said, and wasn't in the area when Cirk arrived (and through the time he stayed). It's also why her phone was off when he tried to contact her.

Regardless, Mashable reports, Zhang is still interested in pursuing her relationship with Cirk, though it's unclear if they've spoken since he went viral for waiting for her in an airport for 10 days and then being hospitalized, etc.
