Quite often, Reddit threads can be kinda sad. They focus on the demise of relationships, the moment people realised their S/O didn't love them anymore and the things people wish their partners would change about their sex life.

But what about the nice side of things? As this Reddit thread points out, people will happily discuss the good side of their relationships, too, such as the moment they realised they were in love.

1. 'When he helped a stranger out'

"We were at a new years festival and it was constantly raining so the concert field was a giant mud pool. This guy had fallen over and couldn't see as he was covered head to toe in thick mud and noone noticed him in the dark and loud music. My SO had seen him grabbed his hand and my hand and dragged him out of the muddy crowd and to the water taps to wash his face. "

2. 'When we had the same ringtone'

"After a movie and dinner she gets a call from her friends. Her ringtone is "Dayman" from IASIP. I have had that ringtone for years. She hangs up and I say "call my phone right now" and she gets a worried wierded out look and says "whats wrong?" I said "just call my phone!" she does and of course hears that I have the EXACT same ringtone. Sounds stupid but thats love in the 21st century right? We both new at that moment that we had something special."

3. 'We were in the middle of an argument'

"We had a big argument. I mean like a cursing-and-calling-pure-raw-emotion argument. And I got really angry. And I realized that even while angry with her, I couldn't imagine life without her. And if I could be that angry with her and still want to have her in my life then it must be meant to be. It's now over 10 years later and we're coming up on our 10 year anniversary. It hasn't always been easy, but we love and would do anything for each other."

4. 'I couldn't stop thinking about her'

"When I literally could not stop thinking about her. I woke up in the mornings remembering pleasant dreams about this girl that I was just getting to know. Throughout the day, just thinking about what she was doing. Her smile, her laugh, her voice. Just everything. When I asked her to be my girlfriend, I brought it up that she was always on my mind and that made her different from any other girl I've liked."

5. 'When I realised her happiness meant more than my own'

"When I realized that I cared more about her future and happiness than my own. We had been getting closer as friends for the past 6 months or so and had flirted a fair amount, so I assumed that she liked me but I wasn't at a place in my life where I was ready to date. Naturally I did the only reasonable thing in that scenario and asked her if she wanted to get married."

6. 'She threw me a toy lightsaber'

"I knew I loved her as soon as she randomly found me in the house and threw a toy Lightsaber at me and challenged me to a duel."

7. 'I woke up and felt different about her'

"It only took about 4 weeks of being together for me to realize that I loved her. It was on a Monday morning, November 26th, and something was different about that day, she seemed different in my eyes, I began to see her in a new way almost. And that's when it hit me, that she is everything I'm not, my other half, she is my love in this world. As corny as that may sound, it was almost an out of the blue epiphany. I had such a sense of joy when she said she loved me too and to this day are my four favourite words to hear."

8. 'I saw fireworks when we kissed'

"It was one of the first time he visited me in college. We were cuddled together on my bed and we were exchanging cute words and whatnot. We started kissing and, as cliche as it sounds, I saw golden fireworks behind my closed eyes. That moment felt infinite and is definitely one of my favorite memories. The love faded eventually, relationship ended, and hearts mended but I'll never forget that moment. It was a very special thing indeed."

9. 'The night she left me'

" I knew I loved her when she left me. Although I'd already known I loved her before as I trusted her completely. That night that she left me, I had such a huge influx of emotions, I probably would have cried at my desk all night if it weren't for my roommates presence. Nobody in this world to date can make give me so much joy, or melancholy as that girl."
