The 7 Songs You Need to Hear This Week

Welcome to "All the Songs You Need to Hear This Week," a series where we round up the best music you might have missed in the past seven-ish days (read last week's here). In this edition, Erykah Badu remixes Drake, Lady Gaga goes disco, and Janet Jackson's Unbreakable has finally arrived.

1. Selena Gomez, "Me & the Rhythm"

Another hit of pop goodness from Revival, which comes out one week from today. Plan your listening parties accordingly.

2. Tinashe feat. Chris Brown, "Player"

A few weeks ago, Tinashe blessed the world with "Party Favors," the first preview of her new Joyride era. That wasn't the first Joyride single though — that honor goes to "Player," a slinky dance number with a guest appearance by Chris Brown. The Joyride era is gonna be good.

3. Miley Cyrus, "Hands of Love"

Partially heard a few weeks ago in the trailer for Freeheld, "Hands of Love" is a powerful ballad that's much more traditionally "Miley" than anything on Dead Petz. In case you had forgotten that Miley can really sing, this ought to remind you.

4. Erykah Badu, "HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX"

Good try, everybody else who's already covered "Hotline Bling," but now Erykah Badu has done it so you need to pack up your version and go home. "HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX" is wonderful because (1) it's 7.5 minutes long and (2) it contains a spoken-word interlude where Erykah says things like, "If you're calling to beg for some shit in general, press 4. If you're calling to beg for some shit but this is that pre-call before the actual begging, press 5." Erykah also announced a new mixtape called BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE, so basically, nothing can hurt you today.

5. Lady Gaga, "I Want Your Love"

Tom Ford skipped a runway show this season in favor of a runway music video starring Lady Gaga, who takes on Chic's "I Want Your Love" with the help of Nile Rodgers. Great American Songbook Gaga was great, of course, but Disco Gaga is everything.

6. Florence + the Machine, "Where Are Ü Now"

Last week Chvrches took on "What Do You Mean?" and now Florence + the Machine is doing "Where Are Ü Now." Covering Justin Bieber — all the cool kids are doing it!

7. Janet Jackson, "Dammn Baby"

Janet Jackson's first new album in seven years has finally arrived, and it's amazing. The laid-back (but still catchy) "Dammn Baby" is a good place to start, so long as you manage to make it past "BURNITUP!," a Missy Elliott collaboration that is literally impossible to listen to just once.
