Guess Which Actress is Going To Play Ariel in the Little Mermaid?

​Welcome a new addition to the Disney princess crew: Chloë Grace Moretz is set to play Ariel in the upcoming live-action remake of ​The Little Mermaid​. HOORAY. 

Chloë will join Emma Watson (she's playing Belle in ​Beauty and the Beast​, FYI) in the ranks of live-action Disney princesses in the next couple of years, and is, as you'd expect, VERY excited. She shared the news on Instagram with a screenshot of the original ​Variety ​article announcing her newest role, writing: "​Here it is !! I've been waiting months to tell everyone how excited I am to take on this beautiful journey."

Richard Curtis - the man behind Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral - is in talks to write the film's script, which makes us think it'll be a pretty romantic take on the original super-dark ​Hans Christian Andersen story. 

The live-action movie was initially meant to be directed by Sofia Coppola, but she's left after creative differences with the studio. Variety reports that some tension may have been due to Sofia's reluctance to have a big name like Chloë taking on the main role. 

The film isn't dated yet, so we'll probably be waiting a while before we actually get to see Chloë chilling under the sea. But hey, we've got a new Disney princess. Get drawing and photoshopping. We need to see some Chloë as a mermaid fan art.
