1. Perfect Points

We love a pointed court or flat, but we hate those pesky creases that appear across the toes after you've worn them. To stop this unsightly mark, simply stuff the toe tightly with cotton wool until your toes just touch it.

2. Stop the snags

Nothing is more annoying than when your tights get snagged and pulled in the wash. To keep your hosiery in tip top condition invest in some little mesh bags to wash your delicates in. Lakeland have the perfect solution.

3. Replace the Buttons

Replacing plastic buttons with metal or bone buttons instantly makes coats and jackets look more expensive. Etsy and Macculloch & Wallis have a good selection you can buy online, and most dry cleaners will switch them for you at a small cost if you're not so good with a needle.

4. De - Bobble

Cosy knits are a winter essential but the bobbling that comes from wearing them is our pet peeve! Luckily, all you need to do to remove those little bobbly buggers is to grab a disposable razor and gently run over the fabric.

5. Pick up a Pompom

Make last season's bag feel like new by adding a stylish pompom. First seen on the Fendi AW14 catwalk, this trend has taken to the high street with a host of fun faux fur pompoms available at friendly prices to jazz up your bag . Our favourite is this gem from River Island.

6. Stuff and Shape

When splurging on a lovely new handbag, you want to make sure to keep it looking fab for as long as possible. When you're not using it, re-stuff it and store in a dust bag to keep it protected and in shape.

7. Avoid embellishment

We love a bit of sparkle, but sequins and embellishment can sometimes make your clothes look cheaper – especially after a few washes, when pieces can start to fall off the garments. Nothing looks worse that a dress with a row of sequins missing or damaged, so avoid these where you can and your whole look will appear more expensive.

8. Add a Faux Fur Stole

Throwing on a faux fur collar or stole is a great way to update your coat or leather jacket and make simple outwear look more expensive. There are some great, bright-coloured options at ASOS.

9. Keep the colour

Black jeans are a wardrobe staple, but we hate it when the colour fades. When washing your favourite pair, turn them inside out and only ever wash on a cold setting. Some people also believe that soaking your jeans in cold water with a cup of vinegar before your first wear will lock in the colour!
