The 1 Genius Trick You Need to Make Your Foundation Last ALL Day

Regardless of where you're headed — whether it's to an all-day music festival or out on a date — you want your foundation to look *~FlAwLeSs~*. Makeup artist Tina Turnbow gives you the exact steps you need to achieve dewy, gorgeous foundation that lasts throughout the entire day (and well into the night).

1. Use your foundation to create a butterfly formation in the center of your face. This area is where your skin should always be the focus (and lightest and brightest). With the butterfly technique, the antennae are angled up on your forehead, the wings create an hourglass shape on both sides of your nose, and the body goes down the bridge of your nose. Finally, create a "V" at the point of your chin.

2. Blend your base outward using your fingers. The warmth of your fingertips helps diffuse the color so it looks natural as you continue out toward the perimeter of your face. Also, lightly pressing the foundation into your skin with your clean finger pads will help it meld into your skin more, creating a seamless finish.

3. Lightly dust your T-zone with a loose powder. Run a fluffy brush over a pressed powder and then trace a "T" along your forehead, down the bridge of your nose, and onto your chin. This will help minimize shine in the areas that tend to get oily, while keeping your cheeks dewy. And that leaves you with a more natural, realistic finish.

4. Use a mist to set your makeup. Mist not only gives your skin a gorgeous glow, but also helps reduce excess oil (which can break down your foundation and cause it to crease), keeping breakouts at bay.

Finally, pop on a coral lip color to put the finishing touches on your fresh-faced look, and go!
