The Protección Civil y Bomberos de Acapulco posted a surreal video of an unidentifiable sea creature that washed up on Mexican shores on March 9. Experts believe it was an animal of some sort who died upon reaching shore, 24 HORAS reports.

Coordinator of the department Sabas de la Rosa Camacho told 24 HORAS the creature seems to have bones and does not smell, but that no one has been able to determine anything more than that since its discovery. He confirmed the animal is almost 13-feet long.

Seriously — no one knows anything else. It's a you-have-to-see-it-to-believe-it type of thing. It looks like if a huge octopus (who had a set of enormous drapes somewhere in his family?) mated with a ton of molten wax and had a water birth. Watch the video (and it's purposefully chosen haunting music) and let it blow your mind.

A particularly popular theory on the Internet is that this is actually the Pokemon Muk arisen from the sea. It's maybe not so far-fetched:

Or — my two cents here — it's the Black Smoke Monster popping back in to say hello and hold us accountable for our sins and peer into the darkest depths of our souls. Have a pleasant weekend!
