Lack of sleep, genetics, hormonal imbalance, ageing, or whatever be the reason behind those under-eye dark circles, you just want to get rid of it. To brighten under eyes, many of us end up trying every possible thing, from cucumber slices to expensive serums but still, fail to see any results. But, don't give up just yet! Makeup is a simple and quick solution to hide those pesky dark circles, but you must know the right techniques. So we get makeup and beauty expert Aanshul, the founder of Glamm Me to share some makeup tricks to cover up those under eyes effortlessly.

Prepping is the key

Sometimes puffiness under the eyes can be misinterpreted as dark circles. "To reduce under eye bags, use small facial suction cups, designed to promote blood circulation and cell regeneration. Or you can also use the icing technique to get rid of puffy eyes temporarily," says Aanshul.

Trick 1 - Colour correct

Colour correction is a technique to counter the pigmentation using complementary colours (directly opposite in the colour spectrum). It is used to cover discolouration like dark circles, blemishes, dark spots, or skin redness for an even skin tone.

"Most commonly used colour correctors are green, yellow, orange, and coral tones, but it depends on the individual's skin tone. For Indian skin tone, the orange colour corrector is the most suitable. Use your fingertips to apply thd orange corrector. Use a minimal amount else your foundation might mix with the corrector and appear orange," advises Aanshul.

Trick 2 – Conceal

Conceal the under eye area with a full coverage concealer that exactly matches your skin tone. "If you choose a light concealer shade, then it will turn grey. Apply the concealer in an inverted triangle shape below the eyes," says Aanshul. Don't forget to blend the concealer properly to avoid fine lines.

Trick 3 – Highlight

If you want to step up your makeup look, make sure to highlight the under eyes with a light shade concealer, in the same manner, you applied the concealer before. Aanshul advises you use up to 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone to highlight your under eye area. Don't go overboard with the concealer as it might layer up, and ruin the overall look. Make sure to apply some  translucent powder to the under eye area, so that the concealer doesn't smudge or melt. Don’t overdo it else cracks may appear.

Bonus Tip

Stay hydrated by drinking at least 10-12 glasses of water as it helps to flush out toxins and reduce sodium concentration in the body  and thereby reduces the appearance of puffy eyes.Include aloevera gel into your daily skincare routine. Massage the gel for five minutes to brighten and even out the skin tone.
