Starting their on-screen journey under the guidance of Bollywood's most popular filmmaker Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt have progressed to become everybody's fave couple on the silver screen.

In conversation with Filmfare, Varun Dhawan opened up about his friendship with Alia and how is it like working with her on a film. To which he replied, "The best thing is she helps me with my character. She does all the work. She cracks my character. She also gives me references. Until she doesn’t do that, there’s a lot of friction on the sets. Till that doesn’t happen, I’m not happy with her. If she doesn’t act out my scenes, she’s not doing her job as a co-star."

After Student of The Year, the two paired up for many films and are very good friends in real life. Well, that's not surprising considering they both hail from the film frat and have probably hung out even when they were kids!

Talking about his equation with her, he said, "We’re pretty much the same. As you do more films, the love and respect grows for each other. During Kalank I told Alia, 'You have become old'.  I’ve seen her since she was so small. Even she says that I’ve aged and my beard is growing faster.

Alia Bhatt is currently dating Ranbir Kapoor, and if reports are to be believed, Varun is also in a steady relationship with his designer girlfriend, Natasha Dalal. It's only natural to share things about your relationship with your best bud, which is what you'd expect these two friends to do too.

But no. On being asked if he gives Alia relationship advice, Varun Dhawan responded with a firm 'NO'.

"No, please! I’ll not take that from her either. She’s the last person I’ll take relationship advice from. One good thing about our friendship is that we don’t discuss those aspects of our lives with each other. Our discussions are around work because both of us are equally driven about our careers. But yes most of the time, we end up making fun of each other," he said.

With Kalank as the next film on the charts for these two, we can only say we're excited to see what else they bring to the table!
