Who'd have thought we'd have to wait longer to find out the name of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's fourth baby than we did the name of the royal baby, eh? But alas, that was the case, and a week to the day after welcoming baby number four, celeb royalty Kim and Kanye announced their son's name: Psalm.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians OG used Instagram (obvs) to reveal her second son's name, uploading a screenshot of a text conversation with Kanye along with a picture of baby Psalm (it's going to take some getting used to, casually weaving that in), captioned: 'Psalm West'. And there we have it, my friends.

In the text conversation, a message from Kanye reads:

"Beautiful Mother's Day

With the arrival of our fourth child

We are blessed beyond measure

We have everything we need"

I'm guessing the idea was to write their announcement in a Psalm-y kind of way for optimum impact and emphasis on the name's poetic and biblical meaning, which they've very much achieved here. So good job, Wests.

Kris Jenner has now opened up about the meaning behind Psalm West's name.

She told ET Online that the name is obviously a reference to a book in the Old Testament of the Bible. But we think there's more to it than that...

"The inspiration was the Book of Psalms in the Bible. I think it's just a wonderful way to celebrate how they feel. And he's such a blessing, so it's perfect. He's just adorable."

But remember, the literal translation of Psalm is "song" or "instrumental music," which is fitting considering Kanye hosts a spiritual Christian fellowship session at Sunday Service every weekend. So is that also why they picked Psalm?

Baby Psalm was born by surrogate - just like his older sister, one-year-old Chicago - after Kim suffered Placenta Accrete during her pregnancy with their second child, Saint, and she and Kanye were advised to explore other avenues for future children.

The condition means that another pregnancy for the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star could be life-threatening, so the couple chose to use surrogates (two different ones) for their two youngest children.

Kim and Kanye’s surrogate went into labour on the morning of Friday 10 May, and Kim tweeted shortly afterwards that their little bundle of joy was delivered safely. In the tweet, the new mum described her fourth child as "perfect", before commenting he looks "just like" Chicago.

Baby Psalm joins older brother Saint in the 'biblical themed name' stakes, while his two sisters have more of a geographical feel to their names, being called North and Chicago.

Kim's followers were initially convinced she and Kanye had called their fourth child Bear, after she posted a series of photos from her CBD-themed baby shower on Instagram, and added an unexplained bear emoji at the end of the caption.

"We celebrated our baby boy about a week ago and now he’s here! He’s so perfect! Here are some pics of my CBD baby shower. I was freaking out for nothing because he is the most calm and chill of all of my babies so far and everyone loves him so much. ?" she wrote.

Turns out we were all reading way too into that, and here we are with a little baby Psalm West on our hands. Congratulations to the ever-expanding family.
