Kangana Ranaut arrived at Cannes yesterday, and made her red-carpet debut in a Falguni and Shane Peacock outfit, the pictures of which have been flooding the Internet. In case you missed them, here are a few:

We wanted to know everything about the outfit, including the inspiration behind Kangana's look, so Cosmo spoke to designer Falguni Peacock (of Falguni and Shane Peacock) who gave us all the deets:

"Kangana wanted to promote Indian weaves with a twist on an international platform," said Falguni. "She wanted to add a modern twist to the sari and make it interesting. Her look was inspired by the 1950's and has a vintage feel to it. She is wearing a bodysuit corset with a skirt, and the Kanjeevaram sari is draped on top. A peplum belt cinches her waist. The peplum and corset are embellished with the same embroidery."

Falguni tells us that they decided to add the gloves to Kangana's look for some drama, while staying true to the 1950's theme. "We tried a few colours like nude and grey before finally settling on a burgundy to match the sari's border. The burgundy really transformed the look and added a pop of colour to the outfit."

So there you have it, exactly what went on  behind the scenes to create  Kangana's first outfit at Cannes 2019.Needless to say, we are refreshing our Instagram feeds to see what comes next.
