9 Biggest Bloggers In the Biz Are Here to Answer Your Burning Beauty Questions

1. KOMAL K, DELHI FASHION BLOGGER

Q: No matter what I do, my make-up slides off by noon. Any tips on how I can make it stay put longer?

A: “This usually happens if you have oily skin. Here’s what works: prep your skin with a primer before applying foundation. And dab the product versus swiping it on your face—it gets absorbed better this way. Then apply
loose powder to oil-prone bits, and let it set for 10 minutes. Dust off the excess powder, and enjoy an oil-free day.”

2. AANAM CHASMAWALA, WHAT WHEN WEAR

Q: Okay, serious situation: I can’t cover up my dark circles... What are some hacks to achieving flawless under-eyes?

A: “If you have massive dark circles, then using a concealer just won’t do—try colour-correcting your under eyes first, and then using a concealer. This palette by NYX is super-affordable and a great formula that blends easily. Layer it with the Bobbi Brown concealer for great results.”

3. AASHNA SHROFF, THE SNOB JOURNAL

Q: I have a lot of acne marks, and I’m yet to find a concealer that can cover ’em up. Can you suggest one?

A: “I also have a lot of acne scars on my face, and I need full-coverage make-up on a daily basis to conceal them. The one product that’s been my saviour for years is M·A·C’s Pro Longwear Concealer. I use shade NC30, and it covers every mark on my face. Bonus: it lasts all day, and works well for dark circles too.”

4. DEVINA MALHOTRA CHADHA, GUILTY BYTES

Q: How do I wear falsies like a pro?

A: “Start by placing the falsies on your lashline to measure it. Then, use a lash glue and coat the edges—you can also use a Q-tip for the same. Don’t put them on immediately—follow the 10-second rule to let the glue dry a little. Then, place them on top of the lashes, adjust with a tweezer, and pat ’em to secure. Apply two coats of mascara to open up your eyes, and you’re done!

5. PALLAVI SINGH RUHAIL, THAT DELHI GIRL

Q: Since you guys try on so many outfits, do you know a good trick to avoid getting make-up on clothes?

A: “The ideal way to go about it is to wear your make-up before putting on clothes, and setting your make-up with powder or a setting spray so that it doesn’t budge. But if you need to change multiple outfits, then use your
hands to pull the neckline as far away as possible, to avoid any contact with the face. Then, wrap your neckline with tissues during touch-up, to avoid getting colour on your clothes.”

6. SHEREEN SIKKA BHARWANI, LOVE AND OTHER BUGS

Q: What are the best products for curly hair?

A: “Curly hair isn’t the easiest to maintain, so one must use the right products. I start by applying a few drops of the Kérastase Elixir Ultime to wet hair, followed by the Moroccan Curl Cream—this combination works wonders to tame frizz. Next, I use the Dyson Diffuser—it disperses air evenly, leaving you with defined curls.”

7. HEMAL VED AND URMI DAGA, WHAT WEAR HOW

Q: Can you suggest a food + skincare diet for glowing skin like yours?

A: “Given our hectic schedules, we resort to healthy snacks to provide our body with all the nutrients. Those include smoothies with leafy greens, fruits, and seeds. We also ensure we eat a tonne of skin-loving foods like avocados, amla, and citrusy fruits to keep our skin fresh and glow-y. As for products, we like using water-based moisturisers for the day, and face oils for night. Some of the products we’re loving currently are Clinique Moisture Surge Cream, RAS Anti-Ageing Face Elixir, Clinique Exfoliating Scrub, and the The Body Wash Vitamin C Cleansing Polish.”

8. URVASHI KUMAR BALI, THE RIGHT SHADE OF RED

Q: What’s the best way to fade acne marks?

A: A: “I stick to aloe vera gel, squeezed freshly out of the leaf—apply it on the affected area, let it dry for 30 minutes, then wash it off. Doing this regularly helps fade away marks. Along with that, use a cleanser with Vitamin
C—it helps brighten the skin. If they’re really stubborn marks, use a correcting serum—I swear by the Proactiv Advanced Dark Spot Correcting Serum and the Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution.”

9. JUHI GODAMBE

Q: My job requires me to be out of the office. A lot. Can you recommend a foundation that won’t budge, and can save me precious touch-up time?

A: “When it comes to wearing make-up during the day, my mantra is ‘less is more’. I lean towards longwear foundations that don’t require touch-ups—my current favourite is the one by Fenty Beauty. Also, always ‘seal the deal’ with a setting spray—this one extra step can save you a tonne of time and really helps make-up last the day.”
