Step 1
Eye Shadow Primer
Natural oil on the eyelids is the primary culprit behind creasing and fading eyeshadow. A high-quality primer is worth investing in as it will mattify the eyelid area, absorbing any surface oil that may later sabotage your eye make-up.

Step 2
Eye Shadow
Use a flat brush to apply eyeshadow to your lids, making sure to blend right up to the crease. If you want colour that’s bold and long-lasting—like the vibrant yellow above—a matte-textured shadow is your best bet. Shimmery cream or liquid eyeshadows in pearlescent shades work really well, too—think rose, peach-gold, and champagne.

Step 3
Gloss
Always opt for fragrance-free options as added scents may cause discomfort to those who have hypersensitive skin and eyes. Also, texture is a big deal! No-one wants to deal with tacky, heavy eyelids on a warm day, so choose a gloss or balm that is light and not too sticky. If you don’t have a flat eyeshadow brush to apply it, fingertips will do, too.

Step 4
Mascara
Complete your lacquer eye look with several layers of black mascara, like Kylie Jenner (above). A volumising or curling mascara will give your peepers a serious lift, providing major drama and fullness to enhance your eyes.
