5 Expert-Approved Serums You Need in Your Fall Beauty Regime RN

We are well on our way to the sweater weather and if you haven’t switched to your fall skincare regime, it is time cuz…

Winter is coming!

And, so are beauty issues such as dryness, flaking skin, redness and irritation coupled with sudden acne breakouts. Top that with the fall festive season stress, the subsequent late-night binges, and you have a cocktail of beauty problems.

What is a girl to do?

Well, Cosmo spoke to skincare experts to help you find your autumnal Holy Grail beauty product. Here’s what they had to say:

For anti-pollution skincare: Ferulic acid

Ferulic acid is a powerful antioxidant that you can include as a serum in your skincare regimen, particularly if you are looking for anti-ageing action and to prevent the environmental assault on your skin.

Dr Kiran Kaur Sethi of Isaya Aesthetics says, “Ferulic Acid! It’s a potent antioxidant that will help deal with the pollution-related damage we are bound to get this season.”

However, if you’re allergic to bran, you may want to skip this recommendation or consult your dermatologist before using this.

For reducing wrinkles, pigmentation: Glutathione

A powerful antioxidant, Glutathione, is immensely popular in the beauty world due to its skin lightening and anti-wrinkle properties.

Dr Bharti Magoo, cosmetologist and founder, Golden Touch Clinic says, “Glutathione consists of anti-ageing properties such as reducing fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation etc. It also helps in skin lightening. Glutathione can be used directly to your skin or can be taken in a pill form.”

For acne-prone skin: Azelaic serum

Think you’re fighting a losing battle with acne? Then, get Azelaic acid in your nightly regimen.

Dr Chiranjiv Chhabra, dermatologist and founder, Skin Alive says, “Azelaic acid is a potent tool for younger skin because it controls acne, prevents scarring and reduces the skin’s oily appearance. You can see it immediately brightens up your skin within 2-3 weeks. I would suggest using a cocktail of liposomal Azelaic acid and Tranexamic acid  with serums such as Sesderma Azelac Ru Serum.”

For skin brightening: Vitamin C serum

For instant brightening and to combat premature ageing, meet Vitamin C.

Vitamin C serum has already caused a stir in the beauty world with its miraculous ability to fade dark spots, reduce sun-exposure and stimulate collagen growth.

Dr Simal Soin, founder, Aayna Clinic says, “In the fall, the most common skin problems are dryness and dull skin. To combat these, we prescribe Vitamin C serum and oral antioxidant supplements to ensure moisturised, dewy skin.”

For moisturising, reducing redness: Hyaluronic acid

A nourishing boost for your skin, Hyaluronic acid, is ideal for those prone to winter irritation.

“Hyaluronic acid is known for its skin benefits such as reducing wrinkles, fine lines and redness. It also helps in increasing moisture in the skin and helps in alleviating dry skin. One can use hyaluronic acid in the form of a serum, injections, face pack or creams,” says Dr Bharti Magoo, cosmetologist and founder, Golden Touch Clinic.
