Expert-Approved Ways to Choose the Most Flattering Bangs for Your Face Shape

When it comes to getting a makeover with minimal efforts, there’s nothing like bangs or fringes. They can instantly alter your look. However, the best bangs choses in consideration of your face shape can accentuate your features. And the good news is there’s a fringe style to suit every face shape, hair texture and style. To guide you in picking the right fringe that will frame your face in a flattering way, we chat up Florian Hurel, Brand Ambassador, Schwarzkopf Professional India. Not only does she tells you which bangs to go for but also shares tips on styling them.

Arched hair bang for square and angular faces

priyanka chopra

These are similar to blunt bangs except that they are cut in in an arched manner following the curve of the face, with the shortest points at the middle of the forehead and the longest points at the jaw. The arched bang is excellent for face framing and adding softness to the face. Best suited for square and angular face shapes and can be worn across hair lengths—short, medium or long. They look good when worn tied up in a pony or left loose.

How to style them

The arched bang can be worn natural, blow dried or ironed, says Florian.

She further suggests, for a sleek finish iron your bangs in a curved manner. This will give you a defined face frame and draw maximum attention to your fringe and eyes!

Alternatively, Accentuate the bangs further by tying away the rest of your hair from your face in a high ponytail.

Wispy Textured bangs for long and round faces

These are soft bangs that are lightly feathered towards the ends. These are a great choice if you have fine hair and don’t want to commit to a thick full fringe. A soft way to frame the face, draw attention to the eyes and match a textured hair-cut. They work well to balance long or round face shapes.

How to style them

Best worn natural or blow dried for a neater finish.  However, Florian shares the following tips:

Style them flat to enhance the wispy ends with an iron.

Style the remaining of your hair in the same manner to mimic the texture.

Use texture enhancing products to complete the look!

Classic fringe for all face shapes

Yami Gautam

Nothing like the classic fringe, long straight bangs which will never go out of style simply because they are so versatile! They can be worn blunt, parted, swept to the side and therefore suitable across face shapes.

How to style them

Best worn natural or styled according to hair texture.

Alternatively, Florian recommends a blow dry for some root volume and for a neat polished finish.

You can also create contrast by styling the rest of your hair in casual loose waves or curls.
