How to Get Your Legs Ready for a Summer Day in 5 Minutes

As the sun becomes a regular feature in our day (we hope) we're happily embracing the warmer climate and allowing our legs to catch a bit of sunshine.

With this, comes preparing our legs for the outside world. Follow these quick steps to have your limbs ready in five minutes flat…

Hair removal

If you have any prickly hairs poking out, you may want to run a razor of them quickly (or not, it's all down to preference!).

You can also use a handy shaver that comes with embedded soap bars along the top and bottom of the razors, saving you from the hassle of applying shaving cream or lotion.

If you have a little bit more time to spare and want longer lasting results, pick up an epilator. These nifty little tools don't bring the same mess as waxing and are able to pick up even the smallest follicles.

Exfoliate

Once you've completed your hair removal, it's important to apply aftercare to prevent ingrown hairs and bumpy skin. To do this, you should exfoliate your skin to get rid of dead skin cells.

Moisturise

Nobody likes dry skin, especially if it's rough knees poking out from a summer dress. Make sure that you moisturise your legs properly to keep your skin soft and smooth.

SPF

Last, but by no means least, it's important to apply SPF all over the front and back of your legs as the last step in your preparation. Dr Sam Bunting says, 'I'd always suggest sunscreen as the outermost step – the lower leg is a common site for skin cancer in women, so generous and frequent re-application of broad-spectrum sunscreen is a must.'
