Everyone Is Obsessed With This Eyeliner Hack for Girls With Monolids

For girls with monolids, applying eyeliner, especially a cat-eye, can be super tricky. You close your eye and think you're applying a ton of product, but when you open your eye, there's basically nothing there. Such a pain!

That's why there's a hack going around the Internet called "floating eyeliner." You basically apply the liner at the crease instead of the lashline, which gives it that floating effect when your eye is closed. But when your eyes are open, you don't lose the effect. It just looks like regular liner.

Blogger Working With Monolids showed off her skills on Imgur, where she said she can use 80 percent less eyeliner now that she knows this trick.

You can also start the liner in the crease and then blend some shadow down if you want it to look less "floaty."

Cosmopolitan.com copy editor Heeseung Kim has tried the trick herself and isn't the biggest fan of the floating liner hack.

"I'm not personally into it," she told me. "It just looks too weird when you close your eyes."

Heeseung prefers the blended shadow trick, but notes "you have to be the type of person who wears a ton of makeup" to love the look.
