The New Use for Your Beauty Blender? Hair Strobing.

Not only is hair strobing a legitimate thing (Well … our hair owned the highlighting trend before our faces did, no?), the technique is now being done with the thing that made the contouring movement what it is today. No, not Kim Kardashian. The Beauty Blender.

Yep, the new way to strobe — according to celebrity hair stylist Jamie Stevens — is by using a sponge to apply color directly to the hair.

First Jamie cuts the Beauty Blender in half:

And then he uses the flat edge to apply spots of color to the hair:

Tasha Stevens, the head colorist at the Jamie Stevens salon explained the technique:

"The soft and round edges of the blender means that the applied color blends into the hair so you don't get random splodges of colour."

But how will this new strobing trick frame our face or flatter our features?

"The application of contrasting tones, applied sporadically over the existing colour, helps to enhance the haircut which in turn brings out the features in the face," Tasha adds. Result!

I may have only just mastered the makeup method, but I'm down with the hair version already. The future's bright…
