11 Smart Hacks for Getting Ready Faster

1. Keep a record of your outfits

Snap a pic in the mirror every time you wear an outfit you like so you can fall back on it if struggling for inspiration. Keep a folder on your phone for wardrobe inspiration – you'll be surprised how useful this can be for work AND play.

2. Put dry shampoo on your roots before you go to bed

If you have greasy hair but don't want to have to allow extra time for washing it in the morning, put dry shampoo in before you go to bed and it will have all night to soak up excess oil.

3. Style your hair the night before

An easy way to get fuss-free waves in the morning is to braid your hair after drying and sleep in them overnight. When you wake up all you'll need to do is take out the braids and run a brush through with some light hairspray.

4. Plan your outfit the night before

Granted, no-one likes thinking about work the night before – but trust us, just five minutes spent deciding on an outfit for the next day will save way more than five come the morning.

5. Lay out your makeup the night before

If you know what you're wearing, you can start thinking about the makeup you want to wear, too. Only leave out the bits you need for that particular look and you won't waste time in the morning searching for your fave red lippy.

6. Fake tan in the shower

There's nothing that screams 'faff' louder than applying fake tan and waiting for it to dry before you can do anything...shudder. Thankfully, in-shower fake tans allow you to get your shimmer on in next-to-no-time.

7. If in doubt, just apply red lippy

You could forgo loads of your usual makeup routines – bronzer, eye make-up, even a smart hair 'do by simply putting on some red lipstick before you leave the house. Trust us, you'll look like you've spent ages on your look, despite it only taking seconds.

8. Apply glitter over chipped nails

Instead of taking off your chipped varnish and reapplying, simply slick a coat of glitter over the top of your nails and you have a quick – and pretty – cover-up.

9. Do everything else before getting dressed

Makeup, hair, breakfast, brushing teeth – this will give you more time to think about your outfit and avoids any last-minute toothpaste dramas.

10. Plan your shoes first

There's no point designing a whole outfit, getting dressed and then discovering you have zero shoes to wear with them. Pick your footwear first and it'll save you getting dressed in two or three different outfits every morning.

11. Have a back-up outfit ready at all times

Everyone has a favourite dress or top and trouser combo - remember it in your time of need and make sure it's never in the dirty basket.
