7 Make-Up Looks that Work from Weekend to Work

1. A manicure that won't chip

There is no greater chore than painting your nails so use a long lasting nail polish and skip the job all together.

2. Subtle contour

There are two kinds of contour, the 'out, out' Kardashian style which makes your double chin disappear, and the subtle everyday contour. Yes you can wear a bit of contour everyday but opt for a powder, as it's easier to blend and looks more natural under those uber unflattering office lights. Use a highlighter with shimmer, rather than glitter (you don't want to be the office disco ball) and embrace your double chin Monday to Friday.

3. The office appropriate smoky eye

We love a smoky eye and if we were brave enough, we would rock one Monday to Sunday. To make your smoky eye office appropriate skip the eyeshadow and just use eyeliner. Apply a line of gel eyeliner to your upper lash line and before it dries, blend out the edges with a smudge brush. A subtle smoky eye that even your boss would approve of, and the gel eyeliner will last all day.

4. Minimalist nail art

While we would love to paint a mini emoji on each one of our nails to express our daily mood at work, we might regret it when we're trying to look serious in our 2 hour meeting. If nail art is your thing, the new minimalist nail trends will keep you happy Monday to Friday. Try a twist on the classic frenchie by using a vampish red shade instead of white. Or invest in a dotting tool and add one simple dot of contrasting colour to each one of your nails.

5. A daylight appropriate tan

We have been known to slap our fake tan on rather haphazardly on a night out (we blame the pre-drinks). If you like to channel your inner J.Lo all week long use a gradual tan, rather than a fake tan. You can build up the colour intensity and we promise you won't end up with fingers that look like a bag of wotsits.

6. Glitter tips

If you didn't have time to paint your nails and didn't follow our advice in tip 1, there is a way you can save your chipped manicure. Lightly brush on a coat of glitter polish over the chipped area. Your colleagues will never know what lies beneath your ombre glitter talons.

7. A knockout pout

We bet no one told Marilyn Monroe that she couldn't wear a red lip to work, so why should you be stuck with boring nude options? If you're going to wear red to the office, keep the rest of your makeup simple and clean, a minimal base and mascara is all you need. Go for a long lasting matte formula that won't wear off after your morning coffee, or slide onto your teeth!
