Tom Hanks confirms he has Coronavirus

His wife, Rita Wilson, has also tested positive.

Actor Tom Hanks, 63, who has starred in too many iconic films to name (including Forrest Gump and The Green Mile), has confirmed that both he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have tested positive for Coronavirus. They're currently out in Queensland, Australia, where Tom is shooting a new film about Elvis Presley with Baz Luhrmann.

Choosing to share their diagnosis with the public, Hanks used the means of social media to directly tell fans the news.

Posting a photograph of a bin, which looks as though it's in a hospital, with a rubber glove in it, Tom used the following caption to reassure his followers that he and Rita were taking all the advised precautions possible.

"Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!"

Fellow celebrities have flooded the comments section of Tom's Instagram post with well wishes. Reese Witherspoon wrote "Please take care 💕" and comedian Marlon Wayans said, "DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus. That one was mine damn it! Curses 😡😂 get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey. Always my nizzle."

We're sending lots of get well wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery to Tom and Rita!
