Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears has announced he will step down from his role as a conservator “when the time is right.”

This move is a significant step nearly after two months of development when the singer broke down and revealed how badly the conservatorship had affected her. "This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life. I've worked my whole life. I feel ganged up on, I feel bullied, I feel left out and alone. I'm tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody,"

Her father has had major control over her life ever since she faced a public mental health crisis back in 2007. The conservatorship is split into two parts—one for her as a person and the other for her financial affairs.

Reports as per TMZ citing various legal documents said, “There are, in fact, no actual grounds for suspending or removing Mr Spears as the conservator of the estate... and it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Britney Spears' best interests."

It also said, “He does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests. So, even though he must contest this unjustified petition for his removal, Mr Spears intends to work with the court and his daughter's new attorney to prepare for an orderly transition to a new conservator."

Britney Spears has spoken twice in court in a bid to regain control over her life and also accused her father of “conservatorship abuse” stating that he forced her to work against her will and did not let her take independent decisions on her health and marriage.
