Ryan Gosling Set To Play Ken In Barbie Movie Opposite Margot Robbie

We might be well into adulthood, but that doesn't mean we're not next-level excited over the upcoming Barbie movie, directed by Little Women's Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie as the plastic fantastic icon herself. But, since the Wolf of Wall Street star was cast in the role, we've all had one question on our lips: Who will play Ken?

Thankfully, it seems Gerwig might have found the perfect person for the part, with Ryan Gosling rumoured to be taking on the role of Robbie's on-screen boyfriend. What. A. Pairing.

Although there's been no official announcement, according to Deadline, Gosling is currently in the final stages of negotiations with Warner Bros. He initially passed on the role due to a busy work schedule, but after production was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it looks like he's good to go.

Understandably, fans are just as excited about the news as we are, and took to socials to discuss. "Cinema peaked when they said: Ryan Gosling as Ken and Margot Robbie as Barbie," said one fan on Twitter, with another adding "Okay not gonna lie, Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken will be epic, iconic and memorable."

A third fan tweeted "Ryan Gosling being cast as Ken is just perfect casting…perfect!!" as another put "Ryan Gosling playing Ken in new Barbie movie is kind of everything like…. I know that’s gonna be so fun."

Speaking about the role of Barbie, earlier this year Robbie told British Vogue that it "Comes with a lot of baggage! And a lot of nostalgic connections." Although, she added "But with that comes a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear 'Barbie' and think, 'I know what that movie is going to be,' and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't'."

All we know is that we'll be first in line to see it.
