The Best Jennifer Lopez Movies Include Everything From Singers to Snakes

When you think of a triple threat celebrity, there's a good chance Jennifer Lopez comes to your mind first. She's known for her singing, dancing, acting, producing, and relationships that fans can't stop following (especially now). Hmm, guess she's really at least a quintuple threat. And, similarly, Lopez's movies offer a wide variety of talents. While you might associate her best flicks with rom-coms, she's also starred in thrillers, dramas, biopics... the list goes on.

Lopez has been in over 30 movies during her career. And while some weren't quite as acclaimed as others—ever heard of Gigli?— the star has an impressive list when it comes to her best movies so far. Check it out.

Hustlers

Let's start with 2019's Hustlers for which Lopez was notoriously snubbed for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination (and win, really). In the film, which is based on a true story, Lopez plays a stripper who devises a plan to steal money from men who visit strip clubs by drugging them and charging their credit cards.

Selena

J.Lo's first starring role was in 1997's Selena, in which she played Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla, who had been killed two years prior. While she was already acting in supporting roles by the time Selena came out, it was a big break for Jenny from the Block as a lead actor and the film is still beloved today.

Out of Sight

Another one of Lopez's most critically acclaimed movies came out the following year. In 1998, she starred as a U.S Marshal alongside George Clooney's prison escapee in Out of Sight. The comedy thriller has romance, action, and both A-listers stuck in the trunk of a car.

The Wedding Planner

On the other end of the spectrum, there's The Wedding Planner. While this one wasn't winning any awards, J.Lo is known for her rom-coms and they can't be overlooked. In The Wedding Planner, she plays a wedding planner (duh), who falls in love with one of her clients played by fellow superstar Matthew McConaughey.

My Family

One of Lopez's earliest movies was 1995's My Family, also known as Mi Familia. She was part of the ensemble cast in this drama that follows multiple generations of a Mexican-American family.

Anaconda

Anaconda is a ridiculous movie about a documentary crew searching for a giant snake. While it didn't get great reviews, it went on to become a cult classic, because sometimes you need a ridiculous movie about a giant snake.
