Love in the time of captions: Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal ace the social media love language

For someone who is smitten by love and gorgeous aesthetics, it’s hard to not fangirl over the grandeur of weddings. And when it comes to a couple that has time and again demonstrated loyalty and respect, it’s hard to stop becoming an ‘aww’ machine seeing them tie the knot. This is why, on the days of the celebrations of the union of Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, Instagram became the most used app on my phone. You know, the way all of us collectively kept a tab of their functions and were so invested and happy for them—almost like how you feel at the end of a very romantic movie.

The thing with #RiAli is that their affection has been so evident on social media, that we, as mere audiences, found ourselves falling in love with their best-friends-and-lovers chemistry. In 2020, Chadha made an appreciation post for Fazal that read, “When @yehhaimirzapur released, people said bae @alifazal9 was a revelation! Because they’d seen him only in softer parts. But that’s an actor's job! To become almost unrecognisable from one part to the next. My Hollywoodia Bollywoodia does that quite well! He can be chilling with Dame Dench with ease, while competing to become Mr Purvanchal!”

While Chadha often drops adorable compliments on Fazal’s posts, the latter too has expressed love in rather poetic ways. For instance, during the lockdown, he shared a picture of them with a caption that said, “teylifone uthaalo begum," asking her to answer his calls. Meanwhile, some of us were only getting missed calls from tele-callers.

The couple has shown immense love and support for each other through the years and on social media—it has always been visible. While they legally registered their union two and a half years ago, it was only this month that they could celebrate it with rituals, thanks to the Covid pandemic. Spread throughout a span of a few days, they shared stunning images of their wedding looks with captions that put their social media love language right on top of the leaderboard.

Did anyone notice how Chadha uploaded the first picture from their celebrations with the caption, "Mohabbat Mubarak"? Fazal uploaded the same set, with words, "Tumko bhi" meaning wishing you the same. I mean, if you look at just Fazal's caption, you will wonder what it means, but only when you read it all together, will you know. They are truly each other's better halves!

In another post, Chadha uploaded images of them looking lovingly into each other's eyes with the caption: "I hide YOU in my eyes", which is a line by the great poet Rumi.

Sharing their images, seemingly from the nuptial ceremony, Fazal got all mushy and poetic and wrote: "Ek Daur hum bhi hain. Ek silsila tum bhi ho.

Check out the pictures, this time with a focus on their captions as well.
