Amal Clooney just switched up her signature dark brown hair

Even we struggle to fit in a hair appointment for a quick trim or colour top-up (I mean, who really has the time to get a cut every eight weeks?). So it put us to shame when we saw Amal Clooney, barrister and human rights activist, managed to squeeze in a hair transformation into her insanely busy schedule. But, we're so glad she did.

Amal's signature dark hair (espresso brown, what else?) was almost a guarantee amidst the ever-changing world of celeb hair transformations, which is why it came as a shock to us when we saw she had opted out of her dark chocolate shade for something a bit lighter.

Hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos is the man responsible for the new shade. He debuted his latest masterpiece via an Instagram post, which we can see involves warmer chocolate tones than we've seen on Amal previously. Dare we say it's almost reddish? We're calling it 'hot chocolate' and it has us craving a sugar fix.

One thing is for sure, Amal's ahead of the trends with this shade. 'Liquid brunette'—AKA uber-glossy rich brown tones with a 'glow from within'—has been dubbed one of the biggest hair colour trends colourists expect to see in 2023, so she's really hit the nail on the head.

Usually, we expect to see darker hair colours being debuted as we hit the winter months, but celebs have really been switching things up as of late. Camila Cabello was spotted with lighter Y2K streaky highlights, and Aubrey Plaza has taken it to extremes and gone platinum blonde.

Does this mean we can expect to see darker shades for summer 2023? Only time will tell...
