This Exclusive Kareena Kapoor Interview From 13 Years Ago Shows How Much Has Changed!

Everybody has #throwback moments, and while us regular souls put up pictures from when we were twelve, celebrities have us to do it for 'em. We stumbled upon an interview we did with Kareena Kapoor (now Kapoor-Khan) in June 2004, and it's just the sweetest thing in retrospect...

Cosmo: What's the story behind your name?

Kareena Kapoor: "Actually, Kareena is short for Karenina. My mom was reading Anna Karenina when she was pregnant, and decided if she had a daughter, she would name her after the book."

C: You went to Harvard before films. What did you do there?

KK: Partied partied partied. I was supposed to be studying computers and IT. But I don't remember any of that.

C: What rules do you live by? Have you ever done anything illegal?

KK: I don't have a driver's license but I would take my car to Carter road. I don't do that anymore. At home, my mom makes all the rules, you know, "Don't stay out late, sleep on time"—and I always break them. I am a rebel. I don't deny myself anything. I eat whatever I like, whenever I feel like it. And perhaps thats why I'm still trying to shed my baby fat.

C: How aggressive are you?

KK: Nine on a scale of 1 to 10. I am also a very possessive person. Not just of my man but also of my family and my stuff. I only share things with Karisma.

C: What was the first thing you bought when you started making decent money?

KK: A Lancer. But I no longer use it. I sold it off. Right now, my car is a Lexus.

C: How do you react to attention from the opposite sex?

KK: It feels good. Everyone loves attention, but my life doesn't depend on it. I have many guy pals, and I've always gotten along better with men, but that doesn't mean I'm a tomboy. I love being a woman...feeling feminine.

C: What do you look for in a guy you want to date?

KK: Those elusive qualities that no man has—loyalty and fidelity. You can try and convince me otherwise, but it won't work. I know it, all men are like that. You just have to accept the fact. You;'d be kidding yourself if you don't believe this. Looks are important, but he also has to have a good voice, nice eyes and a sensitive heart, of course. He should also be very romantic, because I'm a really romantic girl.

C: What is the most important thing you have ever done for Shahid [Kapoor]?

KK: (laughs) Nothing. Our relationship is not like that, it's too early. It's too soon for the romance part to start. At the rate we're both shooting, there is no time to look deeply into each other's eyes and be lovestruck. We are more like friends (giggles) okay, a little more than friends....

C: How do you spend your time with Shahid?

KK: We do the stuff any other young couple does, eating out, watching movies...I really enjoy watching movies. When we get a chance, we go to Fame Ad Labs to see films, We sneak in when it's dark, after the movie has started. It's lovely. It's so relaxing. That's what I enjoy most about being with Shahid. I get to be normal and do normal things.

C: Tell us about a completely irrational fear you have?

KK: Speed and heights. I never sat on Shahid's bike and now he's sold it. His mom made him give it up.
