A look at some famous dads who took a break from work to be around their newborns

Virat Kohli’s decision to return to India after the first test match against Australia, next month, to be around wife Anushka for the birth of their first child has elicited mixed reactions. The BCCI though has granted him paternity leave. However, Virat isn’t the first celebrity to have taken a paternity leave, many other famous dads have done it before him. We take a look some of these dads who took a break from work to be around their babies.

During the birth of Shahid Kapoor's first child Misha in 2016, the actor took a couple of months off. However, when his second child with Mira, Zain was born in 2018, he managed to get a week off from work.

Prince William took two weeks paternity leave for the birth of his first child Prince George, during Princess Charlotte's birth he took six weeks of unpaid leave and also took time off when Prince Louis was born.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian have four children. During the birth of North, their first child, and their second, Saint, Kanye took off from work to be around his wife and the babies.

Saif Ali Khan who is expecting his second child with Kareena, had taken a break from work to be around when Taimur was born.

Shilpa Shetty's hubby Raj Kundra played a doting father when their son Kiaan was born in 2012. He took a month off from work.

Riteish Deshmukh we all know is a doting husband. He was constantly by Genelia's side when both their kids were born.

Kunal Kemmu took time away from movie promotions, when his daughter Inaaya was born in 2017.

Justin Timberlake became a father for the first time in April 2015. After his baby boy was born, the singer took days off work to look after the child and help wife Jessica Biel.

Actor Josh Duhamel and his wife Fergie became parents to a son in 2013. Before the arrival of his baby, Josh told media that he would take paternity leave to be around for his then wife and child. True to his words, he took a break after his son Axl's birth.

Virat and Anushka expecting their first child in January 2021 and as we know, the captain of Indian cricket team would be by his wife's side when this happens.
