Imran Khan: " I don’t think there is anything good about being a celebrity!”

Q Did you always want to be an actor?
Imran Khan “Actually, no! Since childhood, I’d always wanted to be a filmmaker...I even went to film school and trained as a writer and director. Acting happened to me by accident!”

Q What’s the best part about being an actor?
IK “The opportunity to work with talented directors and actors. For me, it’s about enjoying the work aspect of it. I like waking up in the morning, going to a set, and working.”

Q And the worst part...
IK “Being a celebrity! The fact that your life is no longer your own and you become public property. I don’t think there is anything good about being a celebrity!”

Q What do you like doing when you’re not working?
IK “I really enjoy travelling. For me, or any creative person for that matter, it’s very important to fill what I refer to as your creative reservoir...whether you’re an artist, a painter or a writer, you have to constantly draw upon something inside—experiences you’ve had, people you’ve met, and emotions you’ve felt...and at some point, you start to run low and your battery needs to be recharged. For me, my travelling experiences are what bring me back.”

Q What, according to you, makes a relationship work?
IK “Unfortunately, there isn’t a ‘magic bullet solution’ to relationships! Every relationship, whether it’s romantic, personal or professional, is based on certain basic principles. There are lines you will not cross and there are lines you won’t allow others to cross. The truth is that it takes investments, compromises, and a lot of hard work.”

Q What are the things you will never tolerate in a relationship?
IK “Honesty is something I hold very close to my heart, so in my opinion, infidelity is something I will never accept!”

Q How do you deal with all the attention you get from women?
IK “I just smile and say thank you!”

Q And what about criticism?
IK “I don’t deal with it...I ignore it entirely.”
