Unfortunately, this happened right before the release of Karan Johar's movie, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which starred Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The fate of the movie was in dark for a very long time. The director had to deal with threats from political groups. He finally broke his silence and issue a video statement to clarify his stand on the issue. The movie saw the day of light after a lot of ruckus.

The film was loosely based on the life of south Indian actor Silk Smitha. The character's uninhibited expression of sexuality was enough to raise eyebrows. But what started the real trouble was the film's poster. Silk's brothers had a problem with that and sent a notice to the makers of the movie.
