Here's What Saif Ali Khan Originally Wanted to Name His Son Before 'Taimur'

Nobody understands it, but willingly or unwillingly, people can't stop talking about—well it's safe to say—the star-kid of the century, Taimur Ali Khan. At the age of just 14 months, Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's little baby is a fave of the paps, because people absolutely adore this ball of cuteness that's half Kapoor and half Pataudi.

In conversation with journalist Rajdeep Sardesai at the India Today Conclave that happened a couple of days ago, Kareena unravelled her feelings about the media attention that Taimur gets, and how she dealt with the hatred that her unusual choice of name for her son, received.

"I do not like the fact that every day, Taimur's moves are being monitored and you know, pictures are being out, what he's doing, what he's wearing, discussing his hairstyle... I mean, he's just 14 months old. But I don't know how to stop it; they are just following him around," she said. We've often seen Saif talking about the pressure that Taimur will have to deal with as he grows up, because he is already under so much media attention.

However, Kareena revealed that Taimur is sort of "getting used to" being a paparazzi favourite, a courtesy of his cute poses that he had started making as soon as he spots a camera, while he is playfully nestled in the arms of his mother or nanny.

"Of late, if I compare his pictures, now he has started posing," she laughed. Karisma Kapoor, who was also accompanying her sister, pitched in, "He looks right into the camera now."

When Kareena and Saif finally brought Taimur into the world, and shared the news with fans, there was a definite mixed response for his name. Twitterati wasn't happy that Kareena would choose to name her son after a barbaric invader who plundered India.

On that note, Kareena talked about how she wouldn't regret her decision for the world, and was super-sure about it.

"There was a lot of trolling, but there was also an immense amount of support. Not that the trolls mattered, because the night before I was going to the hospital, Saif asked me, 'If it's a boy, are you sure you want to do this? Let's change the name and call him Faiz. It's more poetic and romantic.' And I was like, no. If it's a boy, I want my son to be a fighter. Taimur means 'iron' and I will produce Iron Man. I am proud to name him Taimur."
