Could Jaya Bachchan Be the Richest Rajya Sabha MP?

Recently, Jaya Bachchan filed her nomination as a candidate for Rajya Sabha which created a lot of buzz. It wasn't her nomination that was being discussed, but, the assets she declared. The filing of nomination requires every minister to declare their assets. According to report in a leading daily, Jaya Bachchan declared assets worth Rs. 1000cr in her affidavit.

In case you're wondering what all luxurious items the couple owns(and declared), here's a list of the same:

1. Senior Bachchans own 12 vehicles including three Mercedes cars, a Range Rover, a Porsche and a Rolls-Royce.

2. They have also declared a pen worth Rs. 9 lakhs. Yes, a PEN!

3. Speaking of real estate, the couple owns residential property in France, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Noida and Pune, and Mumbai. Jaya is also the owner of a 1.22 hectare agricultural plot worth Rs 2.2 crore in Kakori, Lucknow. And, Amitabh owns a 3 acre plot worth Rs 5.7 crore in Daulatpur, Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh.

4. The Bachchans have an exquisite collection of wrist watches. Jaya Bachchan's collection is worth Rs.51 lakhs, whereas Amitabh Bachchan owns watches worth Rs. 3.4 Crores.

5. Jaya Bachchan also owns gold and jewellery worth Rs 62 crore.
