There's some pretty intense histroy that's been made whenever Kareena Kapoor has walked out on a film; whether it was Preity Zinta getting her role (and killing it) as Naina in Karan Johar's Kal Ho Na Ho, or turning down Sanjay Leela Bhansali in, well, Black, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas...you name it.
But for the first time in KKK's cinema graph, her fans have weighed in; and the result was not favourable. When it was announced that she had turned down Ram Gopal Verma's film Section 84, her fans gave her their flack in the polite wrapping of an open letter. The addressed issues are a plea to Kareena to stop doing films that aren't 'worthwhile' and turning down ones that are. A section of the letter reads "It seems that film budgets and box-office figures have greatly affected your career's route and your choice to experiment with roles. Although your love for masala films is understandable, your well-wishers find it hard to content themselves with secondary roles and short screen times for the talented superstar that you are and that we support so vehemently."
The letter clearly comes with it's fair share of critique, but since it's a fan request letter, it comes with a side of love. Kareena, however, has responded that the reason she takes something on, it's because she feels that the script is hardcore and brilliant, and that's what makes it worth her time. She says, "even if I don't have a single film in hand, I won't do a film unless its script is really good."
We're sure she knows what she's doing, though. You don't just get to be Kareena Kapoor Khan without knowing what the hell you're doing.
