Priyanka Chopra's Dress for the Royal Wedding has Upset This Indian Politician

Our very own part of the International jet set, Priyanka Chopra turned heads and stole hearts, when she attended the Royal Wedding last week.

Unless, you just came back from the moon, you must have seen her much spoken about Vivian Westwood lilac outfit with a matching fascinator( that's hat in fancy speak) that gave us all major #royaltygoals.

Let's just take a look at it one more time.

Isn't that dramatic neckline with that statement hat just amaze?

But, there were some folks who weren't as impressed by her look. Politician and  textile revivalist Jaya Jaitly, did not approve of  Priyanka's choice of attire, AT ALL. She took to Twitter to put up a post to voice her views and this is what she had to say.

Though Priyanka's choice of outfit landed her on several best dressed lists, it did not stop her from calling her out.

In her tweet, she speaks about how she was disappointed to see that an Indian actor opted to dress up like a “British aristocrat”. She felt an Indian sari would be a much better way for her to represent an independent India to the world.

Jaya Jaitly

Jaya has spoken about other Bollywood actors' fashion choices on previous occasions as well, like in an interview where she said,“All these actors, they dress up in all these fancy gowns by fancy designers who pay them for wearing their outfits and so they get fat money. Now, I keep feeling as I am loyal to our weavers and our textiles in India and we are working all our lives to revive it."

Deepika and Kangana

She had even spoken out against Deepika Padukone saying “Even in Hollywood (red carpets), where if I see Deepika Padukone wearing long gowns... they never really can compete. It’s like Indian fashion designers trying to do western dresses...Why don’t they wear most beautiful gorgeous sari, and everyone will go ‘wow’.”

This time around though, Priyanka's fans would have NONE of it.They took to the internet to remind her that Priyanka was attending a friends wedding and not representing India, and also about the Royal Dress Code (hello!).

Here are some of the comments.

Looks like the people have spoken, and they totally have Priyanka's back.

Jaya Jaitly did reply with her own arguments, talking about how we don't want to adhere to dress codes in our colleges or cover our heads in villages and call it but are happy to comply to the Queen of England, calling it a "double standard".

Still does not mean we can tell celebrities what to wear for their friend's weddings. It's a matter of personal choice after all, Isn't it?
