Karan Johar Shares Insights and Secrets Behind an Iconic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Scene

Karan Johar's directorial debut movie, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai broke several records the year it released. This movie became the highest-grossing Indian film of 1998, both in India and abroad. That year, Karan Johar bagged all the major awards for the film and even garnered critical acclaim. It's going to be 20 years since the movie's release(whaaa!!! feeling old yet?). In an exclusive interview with Film Companion, the director Karan destructed an iconic scene from the movie and shared some interesting (read chaotic) BTS goss. 

1. St. Xaviers’ College, Faridabad was not shot anywhere in India. Sigh.

After watching the movie, didn't we all imagine a cool college campus, where people were allowed to ride a skateboard in the corridors?! Well, guess what...

The college campus where the movie was shot is in Scotland, NOT Faridabad.

2. Farah Khan and Manish Malhotra played a small role in the movie

Realising that Farah and Manish were a part of the movie makes us wonder what other details we failed to notice. 

3. Pink vs. Pink

While shooting an emotional scene, on a budget, in a foreign location, what could possibly be your biggest concern?! Umm...it could be anything but not what Karan's concern was. Manish, who was also the film's designer, and Karan had a major showdown on the location over the colours of Rani and Kajol's outfit.
