"Nana Patekar Has Beaten Actresses, Has Molested Them": Tanushree Dutta

Actor Tanushree Dutta has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against actor Nana Patekar. She spoke about how she was mistreated on the sets of the film Horn OK Pleassss in 2009.

In a recent interview with Zoom TV, Tanushree opened up about being harassed on set by Nana. She detailed how she was supposed to do a solo dance number, but on the day of the shoot, Nana came to set and started harassing her, touching her inappropriately. She dropped out of the project because of the incident, and even spoke up about it then.

She continued, saying that Nana has a history of being violent toward women, a fact that many people in the industry know, but choose to keep mum about. “Everyone knows about Nana Patekar that he has always been disrespectful towards women. People in the industry know about his background... that he has beaten actresses, he has molested them, his behaviour with women has always been crude but no publication has printed anything about it," she said. 

“I was probably one of the first people in the history of this country in the media field to speak up and stand up. Everybody saw what happened but the memory and the popular perception of it is that Tanushree Dutta spoke up against harassment and then she was no more,” she said.

While nobody supported Tanushree 10 years ago, hopefully, in this age of #MeToo, this will start a movement of calling out abusers in Bollywood — something that has essential.
