Kareena Kapoor's Feminist Slam Poetry Is Everything You Need to Hear Today

If there is one Bollywood actor who makes no qualms about saying what's on her mind, it's Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Kareena, who has pretty much slayed the box office and fashion scene, is now taking to the air with her own prime time radio show titled What Women Want. At the launch of her show, Kareena read out some slam poetry she had written for the occasion, also sharing the same title.

The poem, which is a mix of Hindi and English, talks about the social pressure that a modern-age woman experiences in today's society. Here are some lines from her poetry.

"Talk too much toh feminist,

laugh too much toh she's easy,

so much pressure to be thin,

when it's fun to actually sin.

Na mein sexy siren

na mein rebel webel,

why do people want to

chipkao mujhe apne label?"

Kareena, who spoke in a real and unabashed manner, was extremely relatable as she fumbled a few words, making her overall delivery of the poem quite unpretentious. The message given by her poem is feminist and strong. She is asking society to stop being so judgemental and just  back off, letting let woman make the choices and live the lives they want. She addresses many issues such as body shaming, being judged on relationship status, or being labeled for your choice of lifestyle as well.

We wholeheartedly agree with Kareena's sentiments and applaud her for her message, and we are sure millions of other women do as well.
