"I Now See It As a Blessing": Katrina Kaif on Breaking Up With Ranbir Kapoor

If there is one thing Katrina Kaif has always been tight lipped about, it is her relationships. All through her much-talked-about her being with Ranbir Kapoor, she maintained her silence, from the start to the end. Even when Ranbir moved on to dating Alia, she did not say much, leaving us all guessing as to how she felt about it.

Let's face it, breakups are tough if you are a normal person, and being a celebrity makes it even more difficult. While we have always understood why Katrina wanted to keep her personal life private, we could not help but wonder as to what she might have to say about the whole deal.

And now, two years later, we finally get to hear her take. In a recently published interview, the actor shared:

“I now see it (the breakup) as a blessing because I was able to recognise my patterns, thought processes and things that I had been so sure of my whole life. I could see them from a whole different perspective. It’s probably one of the first times in my life where I really had only myself to focus on. And when you focus on yourself, often, the first thing you realise is that you don’t really know yourself. It’s like a period of not knowing, a period of being uncomfortable because you’re seeing yourself in your raw form without embellishments and then accepting that you don’t really know who you are,” she said. 

Talking about her reserved personality, she said, “I don’t like to blame other people. The responsibility is on me… but the trigger is how you approach me. I’m very sensitive, and if someone approaches me with a lack of warmth or affection, the wall goes up.”

The actor, who is now busy with some major projects, is looking forward to having a remarkable year ahead. “It has been wonderful because I’m really enjoying the process of creating. It began with Aanand L Rai’s Zero, and then with Bharat—even though it came to me out of the blue, the process has been wonderful. I’ve enjoyed learning, and I feel incredibly happy at work when I feel like I’m learning something new,” she added.

Seems like this period of self growth has really worked out for Katrina. Given how good she's looking and the kind of work she is doing, we can't help but agree.The fact that she has kept up her friendship with Alia also confirms that she is dealing with the whole situation in an extremely evolved way, don't you think?
