Justin Bieber Reveals He Was Celibate For a Year Until He Married Hailey Baldwin

Justin, 24, said that abstaining from sex was one of the best decisions the couple have made because he had a “legitimate problem with sex".

“God doesn’t ask us not to have sex for him because he wants rules and stuff. He’s like, I’m trying to protect you from hurt and pain,” the 'Sorry' singer revealed.

“I think sex can cause a lot of pain. Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough. Because they lack self-worth. Women do that, and guys do that.

“I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result.

“There are perks. You get rewarded for good behaviour.”

Justin revealed that in June 2018 he had been celibate for a year, meaning part of his reconciliation with Selena Gomez was during this period, as they split in spring 2018.

But before you assume the celibacy was behind the decision for Justin and Hailey, 22, to get married so quickly, think again.

Justin said: “When I saw her last June, I just forgot how much I loved her and how much I missed her and how much of a positive impact she made on my life.

“I was like, ‘Holy cow, this is what I’ve been looking for.’”

Justin and Hailey originally met in 2009, and dated briefly. But according to model Hailey, things didn’t end well; alluding that Justin was unfaithful.

“Negative things happened that we still need to talk about and work through. Fizzled would not be the right word — it was more like a very dramatic excommunication.

“There was a period where if I walked into a room, he would walk out.”

But it all worked out well in the end. After running into each other in June 2018, the couple reconciled and dated for 12 weeks, before getting married in a very low-key ceremony in September.

They are currently planning a huge wedding for family and friends.
