The Reason William and Kate Got Their Dog Will Touch Your Heart

We all love and adore William and Kate's spaniel, Lupo. He's like the sixth member of their very important family. But the reason the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge got the dog in the first place will actually melt your heart.

The royal couple held a Christmas party for RAF families in December just gone, and one of the guests, Natalie Bressani, has since spoken about how she chatted to William and Kate about the spaniel. They told her that the reason they decided to get a dog was to help Kate cope while William was away in the Falkland Islands.

In a speech at the event, Kate shared her feelings about how hard it was for her when William wasn't at home.

"As someone whose husband has served, I know how hard it feels when a loved one leaves home to do the job they’ve trained for. When William served in the Falklands or went on search and rescue, I remember how it felt. But I can’t imagine how it feels when your loved ones are away on active service over Christmas or at those special family moments," she said.

Getting an adorable dog for some company while your other half is off serving the country seems pretty legit. William and Kate got Lupo, who's an English Cocker Spaniel, back in 2012. He was born to a litter from Kate's family dog Ella, who's owned by her parents Michael and Carole Middleton.
