Tanushree Dutta Will Feature in a Short Film on Sexual Harassment in Bollywood

A few months ago, Bollywood finally saw its reckoning in the start of the #MeToo movement thanks to a brave Tanushree Dutta. The former actor accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment on the sets of their film Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. Although Patekar has still not been brought to justice, Dutta basically set the wheels of a whole movement in India, in motion. She stood strong, by her experience and did not let trolls and haters detract her from saying her truth.

Now, months later, Dutta has revealed that she has been working on a short film about sexual harassment in the film industry, called Inspiration. "It deals with the issue of wilful exploitation of young newcomers in showbiz or any other field where they don't have mentors or guidance," explained Dutta to Mid-Day. She further explained her role in the film, which is produced by Ullu, an online content platform: "I play a guardian angel who inspires the girls to make the right decision."

Dutta also helped write the dialogue for the film, taking inspiration from her own experiences. "I wrote the dialogues, inspired by my own insight and understanding on the matter. I was excited to face the camera after nine years because this time, I was not only entertaining but also imparting wisdom to the misled and unfortunate," she said.

The film releases on March 8, International Women's Day. Watch the teaser here:
