Major, major Battle of Winterfell spoilers are coming!
Who’s to say if Game of Thrones fans will ever be fully over that Battle of Winterfell episode, but here’s another thing from that episode to think about until Sunday. Vladimír Furdík, the dude who plays the Night King, just explained why he initially thought Arya Stark shouldn’t have been the one to kill his character and why the Night King and Jon Snow didn’t fight each other.
First off, Vladimír said he thought Arya, the trained assassin, was too small to take down his character. He said, “I was actually surprised. This small lady, she’s going to kill me? Why not Jon Snow? Why not a fight between Jon Snow or some other surprise?” TBD on what he thought about the moment Lyanna Mormont took down a giant wight.
He also said he tried to switch up the whole scene and have Bran kill him, but that obviously didn’t make the cut. He explained: “I said, ‘Okay, I have a better idea. What about, I will grab you and you will throw the knife to Bran and he will throw the knife at me in my back or something?’”

And moving on to Jon, the Vlad said he really wanted to have a one-on-one battle with the King of the North because “Why not?” But then he realized that “in history, everywhere, kings never fight. I am a king, I have bodyguards. If I need to kill Jon Snow, there are 10 or 12 other White Walkers who can fight him.”
He has a good point, but make no mistake—the Night King was definitely fighting when he went after Dany and Jon on those dragons. Also, Jon is a king himself and he’s definitely been in his fair share of battles. So, could Vlad be hinting at how Jon may end up on the Iron Throne? It’s pretty unlikely, but one can hope.
