Recently Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Richa Chadha and Anushka Sharma got together for a roundtable discussion with Rajeev Masand.
The discussion started off with Rajeev Masand pointing out the fact that Bollywood is vastly criticized for avoiding taking a stand on issues that are relevant and volatile.
With Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan coming under fire for voicing out their opinions about intolerance in India, Kalki makes a very relevant point that it is always said that actors have a responsibility, but in reality their responsibility is to deliver fully to their job, and at the end of the day they're humans too.
Deepika raises the point that if an actor says something that goes along with the views of the majority, then everybody immediately puts them on a pedestal, but if an actor voices an opinion which is slightly against the majority, then we've seen what happens in such cases, like the Shahrukh and Aamir controversy.
