Environmental Activists Are Not Happy With Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio talks a big game when it comes to environmentalism. He was nearly banned from Indonesia for speaking out against clear-cutting forests, and when he finally won an Oscar, Leo dedicated part of his speech to advocating for action on climate change.

But when it comes to practicing what he preaches, DiCaprio may have some work to do. The actor reportedly took a private jet from Cannes to New York City and back. That's a whopping 8,000-mile carbon footprint.

"[It] diminishes his moral authority to lecture others on reducing their own carbon emissions," environmental analyst Robert Rapier told Page Six.

"[He] demonstrates exactly why our consumption of fossil fuels continues to grow. It's because everyone loves the combination of cost and convenience they offer... Everybody says, 'I've got a good reason for consuming what I consume'... It's the exact same rationalization for billions of people," Rapier concluded.

However, a DiCaprio source said that Leo "hitched a ride" with someone else and that it was "the only way he could make it in time for both events."

Perhaps, this certainly is not the first time he has come under fire for his fossil fuel consumption
