Sonam Kapoor Ahuja was born on 9 June 1985 and made her acting debut in Bollywood in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's romantic drama Saawariya (2007). Born in Chembur, Bombay, Sonam is the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor and former model and designer, Sunita Kapoor. She has two younger siblings: her sister, film producer Rhea Kapoor and brother, actor Harshvardhan.
Along with being an actor, Sonam is also an entrepreneur, running a high-street fashion label Rheson with her sister Rhea. She is also known to support various charitable organisations. Sonam got married to Anand Ahuja, a Delhi based entrepreneur, in May 2018. The couple is seen sharing adorable pictures of themselves on Instagram quite frequently (#goals)!
In a recent interview with Cosmo (read here), Sonam shared that she takes creating content for her social media seriously. Her Instagram recently featured a candid video series—one where she opened up about her struggles with PCOS and received a barrage of gratitude messages from women who had been suffering in silence. Her commitment to women and women's issues led her discussing about her dream passion-project and the 'feminist men' in her life, who she looks up to. The Neerja actor talks about "cancel culture", the need to push for equal rights, equal opportunities, and equal choices, and certain terrors of the film industry. Currently, Sonam is shooting for the Hindi remake of the South-Korean film Blind, where she will play a visually impaired girl who gets involved in a hit-and-run case
