Just In: Heidi Slimane Calls it Quits at Yves Saint Laurent

In the latest confirmed news today, coming through a brief joint statement issued by Yves Saint Kaurent and Kerring (the luxury group owning the french brand), Hedi Slimane has decided to leave the House of Yves Saint Laurent after working there as Creative Director for 4 years. The designer was first appointed by the co-founder of Yves Saint Laurent in 1996 , when he joined in as the Director of Ready-to-wear menswear, and then later became director of the line as well.

Interesting revelation gives away the fact that the ready-to-wear lines were rebranded as Saint Laurent on his request, and the design studio was partially relocated to LA, a scene that has permeated Slimane's designs for the house. Saint Laurent's youth-culture driven collections, which are closely tied to the music scene, have proven to be extremely commercially successful.

Rumour mill says that Antony Vaccarello is set to step into Slimane's shoes, but there is no confirmed news from the house yet.
