Ever wonder what your favorite instructors and trainers actually eat? Sure, these fitness buffs are really into their fruits and veggies, but you might be surprised by what else makes it on their shopping list.
"The one thing that's always on my shopping list is dark chocolate. Yes, chocolate!" says Naimah Jackman, instructor at 305 Fitness. "Eating healthy doesn't mean you have to punish yourself. Remember — it's all about balance."
"Hummus, coconut oil, turmeric, ginger... and wine," says Tara Palsha Moats, instructor at FlyBarre.

Kristin McGee, celebrity yoga and Pilates instructor in New York City, always makes sure to have a handful of different veggies and protein options on hand, including:
"Red peppers! They're so simply flavorful and you can use them to create salads, soups, stir-frys, dip in hummus, egg mash-ups, and more," says Lauren Chiarello, New York City-based barre and Pilates teacher and founder of ChiChiLifeNYC.com.
If you don't think you have time to eat wholesome meals, Erin Nelson, instructor at SWERVE Fitness, proves even the busiest women can prepare to be healthy.

"I stick to the perimeter of the grocery store because that's typically where the fresh, non-processed items are located," says Lana Herzig, New York City-based personal trainer and instructor. "I check out the weekly circular to see which vegetables, fruit, and lean meats are on sale for the given week to eat healthfully without breaking the bank. One thing I always make sure I'm stocked up on is extra-virgin olive oil since it's my go-to healthy cooking oil for most meals."
Amanda Russell, founder of Fit, Strong, and Sexy, always keeps chocolate on her list, as well as:
Anna Kaiser, founder of AKT InMotion and celebrity fitness expert, keeps her shopping list seasonal.
"I love fresh, local produce. I make my choices based on the season — like fall apples, winter root vegetables, and summer berries," she says.
