After Apple announced iOS users would be getting a period emoji later this year, the company have revealed a first look at more of the emojis you can look forward to. Please welcome to the stage, 59 new emoji designs, which celebrate diversity with disability and sexuality inclusive options.
As Digital Spy report, the 'holding hands' emoji is one of the biggest emoticons to get an update, giving users the option to personalise the gender and skin tone combination, in order to represent whatever relationship users choose.
As well as this, the new emojis also attempt to be more inclusive of a selection of disabilities, including, hearing aids, prosthetic arms and legs, wheelchair users, and guide dogs.
Speaking of their additions, Apple told the Unicode Consortium last year, "This is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all possible depictions of disabilities, but to provide an initial starting point for greater representation for diversity within the emoji universe."
Elsewhere, users will also have access to new food options (falafel and garlic, both essential), a flamingo, orangutan, a yawning face, a sloth and a skunk. Also present? Butter, an ice cube, a safety vest, swimsuit, parachut, yo-yo and a kite.
