Google Doodle Urges Everyone to Wear a Mask Amidst Covid-19 Pandemi

If you have already googled something today, then you would have seen the new animated doodle that shows each letter of “Google” wearing a mask. The letters also practise social distancing, which is the need of the hour, the most effective way to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

And that’s not all, If you click on the doodle and scroll down you will find links to the World Health Organisation’s prevention and tips for Covid-19. Based on your location, it will also show the latest number of cases around you, number of recovered cases and deaths. As of now the total number of cases in the world stand at 18.4 million, 11 million recovered cases and 600,000 deaths due to Covid-19.

Google flagged off the “Wear a Mask. Save Lives” doodle to "reinforce the message that wearing masks can save lives, in the midst of a resurgence of COVID-19 cases across the globe". This doodle highlighting the prevention methods of Covid-19 is the second one after another doodle, in March, showed the most effective hand washing technique and also honoured the pioneer in disease control Dr Ignaz Semmelweis.

Google has been doing its bit to help create awareness and prevent the spread of Covid-19. It has integrated Covid-19 tools with its products. It updated Search, Assistant and Maps to show nearby Covid-19 testing centres. Google has also collaborated with Apple to come up with a contact tracing tool that will identify potential Covid-19 cases.

As tech giants, scientists and doctors merge their might to find a way to curb the spread of the virus, it’s essential for all of us to do as the doodle says, wear a mask, practise social distancing and wash hands effectively.
