'Schitt's Creek' Pretty Much Swept the Emmys and Fans Are Freaking Out

Sure, the Emmys are allegedly television's "big night," but after this year, I think the Television Academy should rename it Schitt's Creek's big night, because that show is out here cleaning up allllll the awards tonight. The show won every single award it was nominated for, which is pretty impressive considering there were, well, seven of them.

Here's a list of the awards they took home tonight:

  • Catherine O'Hara won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
  • Eugene Levy won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy series
  • Daniel Levy won Outstanding Writing for A Comedy Series
  • Daniel Levy and Andrew Cividino won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series
  • Daniel Levy won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
  • Annie Murphy won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
  • The show overall won Outstanding Comedy Series

That is a truly impressive sweep. Like, we're already an hour into the Emmys and no one else from any other show has picked up an award. That's bonkers! It's even more noteworthy considering some of the shows it was up against. Like, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is historically an Emmys favorite, and yet Schitt's Creek totally shut. it. out.

And the fans are, naturally, freaking out about the victories.

Now that they've won all those awards, we won't see the cast for the rest of the night, which means they get to celebrate (safely) together. Congrats to the winners!
